New Jersey is one of the wealthiest states in the nation, yet more than one-third of the state’s households are struggling to make ends meet. United Way calls these households ALICE®, for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. With this level of instability in our workforce, the prosperity of our communities and businesses is at stake.
As business and community leaders, we have an opportunity to set a new course that could ultimately be a model for other states to follow. This summit will be an opportunity to share best practices learned over the past six months, generate new ideas, and to encourage one another to explore actions that will remove barriers and stabilize our workforce. Together, our state’s workplaces can be reimagined to meet the unaddressed needs of our greatest asset – our workforce.
